Mr. Corey Thompson - Principal

I am excited to be the principal of this great school and look forward to an incredible school year.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the staff, students, parents, and community of Jasper Middle School.

I am from Pickens County and graduated from PHS.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree from  Kennesaw State University, my Master’s degree from the University of North Georgia, and my Specialist’s degree from Kennesaw State University.  My educational career includes teaching and coaching at school throughout Pickens County. I spent 8 years teaching at Harmony Elementary before serving as assistant principal of Tate Elementary School for 2 years. I then spent 2 and one-half years as principal of Harmony Elementary School. In addition to teaching, I spent many years coaching a variety of sports at the middle and high school levels.

My wife Hollie and I live in Pickens County and have 3 children in the school system.  We enjoy spending time together, playing games, traveling, and being outdoors.  In my spare time, I enjoy projects with woodworking, reading, and golfing. Among all the excitement I have for serving as principal of JMS, I most look forward to collaborating and working with the staff and families to provide the best education possible to our students.  I feel that we all have the goal of student achievement, and together, that goal can more easily become a reality.

At JMS, we will provide an academic program that challenges the student but also provides support and care.  We want our students to become lifelong learners who are not afraid of being faced with challenges but are prepared to overcome any obstacle in their path.  In my role as principal, I will make every effort to base all decisions on what is best for our students and their learning.  I will work to provide a safe and nurturing environment that enhances learning, and in which all are treated with respect and given the best opportunity to a quality education.

The faculty and staff of Jasper Middle School take pride in developing positive relationships with all stakeholders and realize that working together will produce greater student achievement, positive behavior, and a school culture that is focused on respect and learning for all.  Please feel free to contact me with any suggestions, questions, concerns, or recognitions.  We value your feedback and look forward to working together.
